Adding in some information to the previous post as advised:
Scarne had an acid resist potion on.
Kitara and Khannon focused on one beetle and did not manage to kill even the one before the entire group was decimated. Khannon had 3 crits (1 was entirely negated by the armor) Kitara had 2 crits Exact damage at this point is not something I can go back and determine but we left it near death and all died, leaving the other 2 just fine. If I recall, one was uninjured and the other was barely injured.

Going to tweak their stats a bit in today's update. Less acid damage overall and a bit lower on the defense front too.

The beetles are still really scary, but it seems more fair and manageable. I think they turned out pretty decent. However, in some encounters with 4 or 5 of us we were encountering as many as 6 beetles.
Also, this dungeon is incredibly long and the XP capped out VERY fast... about about 3 fights on the first floor only... the remaining fights through the first and second floor gave no xp at all.

I actually capped out in the very first fight (beetles) and couldn't even gain hunting xp for using fire on trolls afterwards. I gained roughly 400 demolitions xp, and 400 2-handed xp during that process. Likewise on the next level of the dungoen, I received only 20-30xp across a few skills.
That said, for clearing the entire forest, and the first two layers of the cave we encountered roughly six loot containers. On our way back out we found three more.
With 42 detect + monocle's +1, + search 2 I was unable to spot any traps.

Few things.
1. I'll address the XP progression this update. 2. Info on loot per area would be good since what you encountered seems a bit low. 3. How many traps did you miss detecting?

Okay, if I remember right in regards to..
2.) we found the chest that is always present in the ruins, in the High Forest Area + 1 pit also in the hilltop ruin. On the way out we found another pit by the road. I think the take away from this was 2 items per person and a broken item each. In the first layer of the mossy cave on the way in, we found 2 loot nodules. One at the 2nd beetle fight and one near the storage-room troll battle. Then in the bottom layer we found 1 chest after each cave-troll spawn. On the way out we found I think 2 more loot containers, but the dungeon seems designed to be a one-way trip so we probably shouldn't count on procing new loot nodes on a withdraw.
3.) I missed detecting every single one. I think it was a total of four or five traps.

May have found a bug in the nwn2 engine relating to spotting traps with high DC/search values. If I can confirm it I'll need some time to write an alternate system.

As a side note, even the traps in gnomes are still high on their DC. 38 detect, monocle, search skill and blue moon and I only managed to detect 1 of 6 traps. That was the very first and only one I detected and it came as such a shock.
The shock ebbed away when I came upon several other very obviously trapped chests, waited around in detect mode for 3-5 minutes each and never found another trap... The one trap I did find was purely by coincidence as I walked up and I was not even in detect mode.
Trap DC on all the locations I've been searching (gnomes, wyler, beetle/troll/spider cave, swamp cave) have all still been undetectable aside from the single trap in gnomes -- I have not tried factory yet)

With the recent update fixing trap detection I'd be interested in feedback on that.
This next update has a few things related to these areas:
- Troll difficulty is being brought down some, but not by a huge amount. - The first area in the cave sequence is being shortened (in encounters) and having its XP cap raised. - The third and fourth areas have undergone some large changes, still waiting on seeing either a completion in the DB or feedback in reference to a wipe.

Xp progress still either caps too fast or isn't great. And this is a huge dungeon, needs an early exit somewhere that isn't suicide.

Just to clarify the Forest Chimeric trolls were toned down, but the Cave Trolls of all sorts were left alone? (The cave trolls were scary, but manageable).

Haven't heard much feedback about cave trolls yet, didn't touch them.

They are scary, but manageable indeed. As long as you have someone with a big ass that can take a lot of hits in a narrow choke point... otherwise... they would be un-manageable.

I have to ask....
what the fuck?
What?
I spent 5 hours in this dungeon before giving up and suiciding out. I couldn't take it. Please... you need to make like 4 dungeons out of this, it's fucking ridiculous.
