Aspiring Everything (maybe a nurse. or doctor. or crafter. or grenade thrower. probably a grenade thrower)
Basics
Age: 22
Height: 5'6
Hair: Red, always worn (in public) styled to the side with a small bouquet of lilies tucked in.
Eyes: Green
Build: Slight, but was a farm girl and capable of doing the work.
Hometown: Sinecliff, farm outside of it.
Public Knowledge
Elena hails from Sinecliff where she had lived on a farm with her grandfather. Her father and grandmother had died in her infancy, due to their professions. She doesn't know what became of her mother; just that she isn't there and is assumed deceased. That's okay though. She adored her grandfather and his cronies, all of them grumpy and crusty old farts that doted on her.
They often traveled to other towns to trade animals and farm supplies. The last time was to Neermore. She hadn't known how bad his health was, but did wonder that he was selling more of their animals than regular. His friends knew; he'd already said goodbye to them, just in case. He talked a little with his darling on the wagon ride, but she hadn't wanted to believe he could leave her yet.
And then he did. His heart gave out, leaving the young woman alone in a town she wasn't terribly familiar with. There was nothing to go back to. All the money in their meager world was in her pouch. She paid to have him buried, then made the choice to take an airship somewhere new. She'd never flown before, and she could start over.
Equal parts terrified and despondent, she boarded with the others. Fear won out as the ship lifted off. Despite another young woman that kept looking over the side, exclaiming about the amazing fun the whole thing was, every bump made Elena more nervous and she held to her seat tighter. An elderly woman nearby pat her arm, saying "there there, deary. It's as safe as a wagon! Just you see!"
Only it wasn't. Something above sparked and burst into flame. Something fell, embers landing on the deck, starting more fires. It listed... Screaming; it might have been hers. She didn't know which way to go. She couldn't breathe. No matter which way she turned, people were running or sliding... some fell over the side. She held tight to a post, her stomach threatening to bring up what little she'd eaten that morning.
With wrenching and cracking and screaming and fire, down they went. The roar of the water surging up over the wreckage drowned out all other sounds, much as the water washed over them all. Time lost meaning. And then she was at the surface, gasping and coughing. Bodies and the remains of the ship floated around her. She debated letting go of the board... just slide beneath the waves, be done with it all. Nothing was left. No money, no trunk, no future...
But one other sat in a makeshift lifeboat a little ways off. She watched the woman in curiosity as she worked at a few small bits, finally creating a spark, making some happy noise. While Elena watched her, her own little "raft" had come close enough to shore for her feet to find purchase.
Bedraggled and soaked through, she hauled herself out of the water. With arms around herself, fighting the shivering, she looked for a sign to tell her where she was. Calidor...
Persona
She has a nervous / shy habit of playing with her hair when she isn't sure what else to do or how to handle something. There's no trouble talking big with "the boys" and she loves banter. Her skill set is one of a farm kid. Her greatest love is cooking and having people over to share (she's found Max's place a great location for entertaining!). She's not afraid of hard work, working with animals, or taking on challenges. In fact, this is something of a problem: she can't decide what she should learn in Calidor and has opted to learn everything! (Except guns - apparently she sucks at this).
Finding a room, she determined to make the best of things, choosing to sleep on the floor to begin with as she opted to start picking up lily plants for a shelf in her meager residence. Very few will ever see her hair down, or without a lily or two tucked in. It is the only sign of home she has kept with her (details learned in game).
There are only two things she fears in this world (must be found out in game), but she doesn't let them stop her... especially since meeting someone that makes her feel alive. She no longer has that despondency about her, but she does remember it and does feel it late at night if she's alone.
