This thread is for signups for a long-term event chain that will be run by myself and several other DMs over the coming weeks. There are some provisos to this event chain:
1- Your PC's inventory will effectively be sequestered from the main server areas for the duration. The whole plotline and accessory events will take place over the course of 2-4 weeks RL time. 2- The sequestered areas are kinda bare bones, so stores will also be rather limited. Pack accordingly. 3- The event chain is comprised of one major plotline though it will feature many smaller plots and one-off event stories. Attendance to all events in the plotline are NOT mandatory, and in fact the party will be broken up at times and thus no one will actually be at every single event. 4- The event will be risky. It will be dangerous. DMs will be supervising. Deaths or permanent RP injuries may occur but aren't planned and will never be pursued to "spice up the narrative." Ultimately, as always, you will be responsible for your PC's life. 5- To go with 4, it will be pretty rewarding, both in terms of RP and play experience, but also in terms of bonus exp, skill gains, and loot. 6- New alts that are natives to the Expedition region may be allowed, depending on their backstory. If you're interested in taking this route, send me a PM with your character and their history.
Due to the nature of the plot and the already-in-motion setup for it, there will only be 4 Factions that can participate. If your PC is a member of any of these factions, you can sign up. If your PC is in the process of trying to get into one of these factions, there will be a handful of events for each one in the coming 1-2 weeks to get them squared away for the plot launch, so you can jump into them then (sign up in advance).
Events will generally take place in the evenings EST on weekdays, afternoons and evenings EST on weekends. This makes it hard for European players unfortunately, but hopefully we'll have some more DM support on our end to expand the times so that it's more flexible. Stay tuned.
We want at least two PCs representing each faction, with one having a larger presence due to story considerations. We'll have to massage the numbers based on party compositions and factions and such, so if a lot of people sign up, not everyone will be guaranteed to go. Capping at 10-12 PCs, we're still ironing it out.

To clarify, this will start in the end of February (after the 18th), this is to give people time to get gear they need, wrap up existing plots, etc.
There's NO level requirement and newer players are totally welcome. If you need to get your foot into one of the factions, post in faction recruiting so we can get you sorted in time for the plot launch!

For those concerned about the sequestration, there will be a reasonably sized area for your PCs to hang out and RP in when events are running. The entire plot line shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks RL, with the plan to have events basically daily with multiple DMs helping out.
There will be some major developments with story afterward, with PCs being right in the thick of it (whether they like it or not). No pain no gain!

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
A special thanks to Psionic Entity for whipping up some custom code that will allow us to have sequestered inventories for the duration of this plotline.
What does this mean for the Expedition?
It means PCs will no longer be sequestered to the event areas, only their inventories will be. This includes EVERYTHING in your bag, the only exception will be equipped gear. At the start of every Expedition event after the initial one, the players will gather and put ALL of their stuff into their Turner storage bags. THey will then get sent to the event areas and be allowed to access a special DM storage bag that will be handed out at the end of the first Expedition event. This bag will store all the things they happen to be carrying for the plotline. At the END of each event, in order to get sent back to the Live world, the PCs will have to throw all their stuff back into that DM bag (only accessible via DM) and then they can go get their stuff out of Turner storage.
This adjusts the timeline and puts less emphasis on PCs being stuck away from the rest of the game world, so you can continue to play and RP normally, it would just be assumed that your PC's adventures on the Expedition still haven't happened yet. At the end of the plotline, all PCs would return to the main world with ALL of their gear, and THEN they can ICly share their stories of their crazy adventures, and what transpired in far off lands.
A side effect of this setup means that the bulk of the Expedition rewards will be awarded in a lump sum manner at the END of the Expedition plotline when everyone returns back to Calidor. Be sure to scroll up and re-read the original post, which has been edited to reflect this stuff!
This system will more than likely see future use in other "extended voyage" type plots. Game on!

LAST CALL FOR SIGN UPS
The first event of this series will be TOMORROW, February 21, starting at 6PM EST. Late comers are welcome as long as you're on the list, as the first event will be split into 4 "sections," each a rolling intro for the 4 participating Factions. Order of each section will be determined by which players are online, so don't wait around to login please. University will be the final faction for tomorrow night, which at that point everyone participating will have been rolled into it, ideally.
If you can't make it, please post here so the other players can see who in their Faction will need to be updated on what's going on. You will be able to drop into the overall plotline whenever, with the assumption that your PC tagged along late or maybe was just quietly following the caravan in the back.
IF YOU HAVE A HORSE, BRING IT. You'll need it.
I will be creating an IC Discussion thread in the IC Discussion forum after the event is complete to essentially be a sort of chatroom for PCs on the expedition. The voyage to your destination will be long and take a few events in itself, so you can freely use that thread to have horseback or fireside discussions while you pass the time. Overall quality and detail of postings in that thread will be taken into account for RP rewards and such. Be descriptive and have fun with it.

A note on your loadouts:
To begin with, you will need to have WHITE inventory weight (unencumbered) to be able to undertake the journey without having to just flat dump stuff on the side of the road. That's either on foot or on horseback, whichever you happen to be.
Having a horse is NOT a requirement.
