(I suspect this should be in University of Calidor Campus thread, but no access.)
Imperial Island Wyvern.
Name: Wyvern
Scientific: Accipitrisaura Electricus
Family: Draconis
Resistances: Electrical, Cold
Vulnerabilities/minimal resistances: Fire
Watch out for: Electricity
Summary:
Oddly unique to the isolated island where it somehow grown up on. Like it's desert cousin, it tends to try to drop on yers and hold you down under it's feet. In fact, it may try to do that quite a few times.
Yet, you would be making a big mistake to treat it like it's desert cousin. This one doesn't like fire and can shock you something awful with it's stinger.
But, on the upside, no poison to fret about.
More Learning Details:
The Imperial Wyvern has got the head of a big lizard, one might even say of a dragon, if yer seen or imagined one. However it doesn't spit or breath on you as some of the rumors that go around.
More in it's got a reptilian body with armored scales, two legs much like a bird, tough leathery wings and a tail that resembles an eel's tail with a barb. It uses the tail technique as a scorpion, snapping it over the head in a stinging flick.
It's peculiar adapting to electricity is likely a result of the spot where it lives. Close to the water and other electrifying dangers: shocking fish and surviving the eating chain. It's not the top predator, just near the top.
An aggressive predator, it likes to use air maneuver to overpower tough fights. If it spots prey, it'll take to the sky and line up a dive, attempting to knock down the prey. Physics, you know. Once it starts its plummet, it is not that quick to adjust; Likely most of the prey tends to freeze in place when they see it, as is many a creature's instinct.
Surprisingly quick on its feet, unlike an actual bird: to outrun it, you need a good start and some good running. However, it does take some time to gain height, once it takes flight. If yer had to run, that would be the time to make haste.
There's some tales of domestication, but that's got to be slim to never. Simply too voracious and aggressive.
Wyvern skin is desired for light armors, as it's naturally tough, supple, and resistant to penetration. The eggs are seen as a tasty omelette delight in the Isles, more so with those that can afford them. These fine gourmets complete with some special brews, that also use the eggs.
[This Wyvern doesn't currently get hunting xp from the Wyvern hunting category, btw]
