I would like to suggest that the Glands of elemental nature could receive a mechanic similar to how Ores and Ingots work. The Tower of Hermite could have a Distillery that allows PCs to convert Glands obtained from creatures or monsters into fuel. It could also be a means to 'recover' rare reagents from loot - either buff potions or explicit treasure drops; similar to how deconstructing a rare-metal weapon returns a portion of the rare material used in it's creation. Alchemy rank/investment could modify drop rates for either, and it would be synergistic with the Hunting drops suggestion I posted previously. [Edit]: To maintain the general requirements in server inflation-protection-paradigm for money-sinks, distilling could require monetary cost depending on the target/selection (though perhaps not on basic cheap fuel). It is my understanding that most PCs would gladly accept a fee for the chance at otherwise elusive items: Loot-gambling is a pretty well understood gaming principle.
