For Defensive Shield Bash, when you do not parry well enough for a riposte while blocking in a combat round, you will execute a free shield bash during that round. The issue is that when the free shield bash happens, your character is obligated to play out the animation and cannot parry any attacks until the animation is completed. This can result in an enemy getting an uncontested attack in despite the character being legally able to parry it otherwise if the bash happens between attack flurries. (This isn't an issue where the bash happens in an attack flurry because both the normal attack and the bash is folded into a single animation.)
To be honest I'm not entirely sure if this issue is because of this, or parry attempts respecting a cooldown period tied with playing animations. Could be both and PE might know better about it. But overall I'm thinking that speeding up the solo shield bash animation might help this problem?

Well there are two issues here. One is that parry is hard coded and the other is that speeding up animations doesn't work. I might some day be able to get a hold of quick shield bash anims but right now it's not an option. If it ends up being so bad that people would prefer to forego the free attack I might need to rework the ability.
