The Winter Solstice
At the peak of Trivium's winter orbit the Skybow passes directly between the planet and the sun and for a time it is always visible, even during the day. The result is a great, twinkling rainbow in the sky that lasts for three days and three nights. Many religions and ancient cultures have legends tied to the Skybow, the most prominent of which assert that the bright lights are the spirits of ancestors, come once a year to check on their descendants. During this time there are constant meteor showers lighting up the night sky. Travelers are warned to look out for falling meteorites which, while dangerous, are said to be omens of good luck.
The solstice is a very spiritual time, and the religions all believe it is a time to celebrate The cycle of life and death. In Calidor they have erected the Giving Tree in the trade quarter. This sacred tradition has been passed down for hundreds of years, and its central custom is for people to leave gifts at the tree for their friends and family. The ancestors, watching from above, take comfort in knowing that their descendants can spare a day to share their good fortune with others. This year the council has asked citizens to refrain from putting stock certificates or money in gifts, following a string of thefts during the prior year.

The Giving Tree: Leave gifts for friends and family at the giving tree. Using a wrapped gift item on the tree opens up a box where you can enter a recipient's name. Players participating in the exchange can earn some bonus experience each day for the duration of the festival. Estranged family and secret admirers often use this time to send gifts. There has been an emergent tradition among Calidor's elite for wealthy heirs and heiresses to leave valuable trinkets for local heroes of prowess or cunning. All role play done within the general vicinity of the tree earns 20% more bonus experience.
Furniture and Clothing: This season you can purchase new furniture for persistent player housing areas, including gifts, your very own giving tree, and decorations. There are also a few new clothing appearance options that will remain in the server's appearance changer. Credit Trinital for these models.
Snowball Fights: You can pick up snowballs from snow piles around the city. They deal 1 cold damage and require a touch attack to hit.
Winter Beverage Options: Don't say you weren't warned.
Meteor Showers: Getting hit by a falling meteorite might be painful, but they often contain traces of valuable materials for those brave enough to probe the flaming mess they leave behind. Keep an eye out in outdoor areas, but be particularly mindful in dungeons where a large, flaming explosion can sometimes change the tide of battle.
