120 batches (10 potions each) of max level (31) potions, plus one batch of Blue Moon, on level - one half level of skill progression on rank 31.
A massive order by any metric, but not much progression at all.

Getting half a level for 1400 bucks worth of crafting is way more generous than any other crafting skill gets.

it costs less, or about the same to level up alchemy from what I can tell watching Khuna (she has all the crafts and feats included); however, it takes a lot longer because, even though the items are consumable, it just takes a lot longer to spend the same amount of money on alchemy as it does for other crafts.
However, what is not included in this equation is most other crafters don't spend the necessary amount of money for each level up... In pretty much every case, most of the exp for other crafting professions is earned by deconstructing materials that have a very high cost - earning a ton of exp in that level...
Yes, you can deconstruct higher level potions for exp but think about it... You often find a level 35 sword, that has a value of what? 5,000 (500 dollars) or so? If the next chest has 2 red potions that are level 35 their value is closer to 40 or 50 gold (4 or 5 bucks).
On top of that, most players don't bother with offering their favorite alchemist the higher level reds or green potions they find - instead, they use them because it keeps them from having to buy potions as often.
Thus, the amount of potions you find, in value- not quantity, is far lower and less practical to level the skill up... And people are coming back and ordering potions more often than sword upgrades but it is not enough gold to compensate for the greatly reduced value of potions they are extracting from dungeons.
A possible fix might be to make a unique type of potion that is basically worthless, like a poison or something... that has a VERY HIGH value and can be deconstructed for a lot more XP in alchemy and add it to the loot table. You won't find it often, but when people do find it, they will hopefully bring it to their favorite alchemist to deconstruct like many, many players currently do for the highest level weaponsmiths and engineers on the server.

I can agree with this sentiment on some level, but the matter of the unseen costs still applies. If a crafter deconstructs an item, that is money they cannot sell for. It varies depending on the actual item in question, but I have at various points deconstructed ten or so items and not received half a level - primarily leather goods, gloves, boots, etc. which would net me the same value. The other consideration to bring to mind is that unlike a sword, where once you have it upgraded you don't need it until you get a new rank, potions are always in demand, and are thus have a consistent market even when XP is going nowhere - As long as damage is being taken in dungeons, even if no XP is net, the demand for potions is higher than the demand for any other gear. [edit] Potion-making is already effectively double the XP of every other craft. Source

The multiplier is actually 3.5x, not 2x. I did discover that this wasn't being applied to deconstructions and I will be fixing that next update, but I don't expect it to make a huge difference.

Every little bit, PE. It probably won't make a big difference as you said but every bit counts. It is a small step in the right direction.
