I came to the absurd realization today that my character blocks better with her bare hands than she does with her sword equipped. That puts the base block value for being unarmed and wearing gloves on par with a staff or spear. This seems rather ridiculous that having no weapon at all makes a character better prepared to defend themselves than characters holding some of the best reach weapons, or even any weapon of appreciable size. I'd say either unarm's base block value needs to go down, or the weapon values need to be raised so that most weapons match at the very least while the specialized weapons (staffs, rapiers) exceed.

And I do more damage with a punch then with my sword.
It's not realistic, but it's needed for unarmed to be playable.

Unarmed damage output is still lower than one handed weapons of comparable level and unarmed block is lower than with a polearm. Might be something to say about the block values of other two handed weapons but it's not like you can't do better than hands.

Ehh... I'm at 11 barehanded with wrist bracers and 20 unarmed skill. I'm also at 11 with wrist bracers, a level 40 spear, and 49 2-handed?

Your block skill decides your progression on item stats, not your two handed.

Block is at 41, which is enough to fully unlock the spear's block. Just seems unreasonable for someone bare-handed to be competing with the block values of someone holding a six foot stick or a shield.

Shields still have the highest block value by far.
