I would like to start this off by saying that I have absolutely loved every event I've seen on this server, and I'd like to thank the DM's and staff for being the greatest DM's and staff that I've seen on any server to date. The attention to detail is impeccable, and it shows, this place is amazing.
But I've noticed a trend start to creep up in the last few weeks or so, one that may be particularly unhealthy in the form of scheduling..... or rather, a noticeable lack of it.
Now, it's entirely on me that I've not downloaded the actual discord client yet, or installed the app on my phone. I'll look into the client soon, but that's entirely unrelated to the gist of this post.
I use Discord when I can through a web browser, but even that seems to crash my NwN2 game when I run them both at the same time. My PC has been acting up lately, and it's hard to get it to run even one program at a time, not necessarily my fault and I can't really afford to replace it or continue dumping parts into it to fix it. There are other players that I know of who do not use Discord at all, and it's not fair to..... many of us when pertinent information is announced there, usually on short notice, and nowhere else.
Now, I know you staff from Legacy, and I know how things were done there..... and in my opinion that should be somewhat replicated here. It would be nice to see that "major" events, from the big main server plotline to any event chain that results in followup events, announced and scheduled beforehand in the relevant section of the server forums.
I'm perfectly fine with Discord being used to announce little one-off events to fill the time when DM's have the chance to run them and want to, little things that someone can miss without feeling too horribly left out in the scheme of things. But a big recurring faction plot, or the main server plot, or even this Festival ball, which was announced on the day with admittedly far more forewarning than any other event recently but still not enough....
I do not wish to complain, or irritate anyone. I am deeply grateful for all the work PE has put into this server, and all the time the DM's spend on us running our little schemes and plots. I do my absolute best to be entirely understanding of scheduling and times when I request anything, your RL commitments come before anything I might participate in here, but I believe (or, well, hope) that I speak for everyone when I say I'd like a bit more of a chance to try to rearrange my time to attend things I'd have an interest in. "Event in X minutes", on a chat client I cannot spend much time on, is very hit or miss in that regard.
Thank you!
