Are you dual wielding? The system uses temporary properties like that to adjust "minimum damage" when your main and off hand weapons disagree. If the property hangs around after you unequip or go one-handed that's not intended.

It might be something with Warhammers? The Carbon Steel Surface warhammer that I found isn't getting it's +1 to damage.

I am, but I noticed that the damage of my offhand weapon (a shortsword) is also higher (by 2) when I use a flail in my mainhand instead of that warhammer. I'm not sure if that's intended but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Damage gets set in three ways.
1. Game decides how much STR to give your character to account for carry. 2. Game decides how much "effect" damage to give you, which applies to both weapons. 3. Game picks a weapon and applies a damage penalty if you're using two weapons that don't match.
Not sure if you can always see the total but that could have something to do with it. If it's off I'll need to look in to how the code is adding up all those numbers.

I'm not sure if it's accurate but it doesn't seem correct to me. When I equip the warhammer it reduces the shortsword's damage by 2 for some reason

you do get the +1 dmg from carbon steel on a warhammer/greathammer pay attention to the base dmg of the weapon you'll notice that instead of 6-30 on a normal greathammer it'll be 7-31
