The spammable knockdown the trees have is pretty ridiculous. Did this area with Nippon last night, and at one point we were kept knocked down for close to 8 rounds by a single tree. When you're fighting 2 or 3 at a time it can get really silly. It doesn't seem as big a threat to plate characters as Bruce was able to mitigate most of the damage from it, but I came really close to being knocked down spammed to death a couple of times in scale armor @ 160 HP. If I was in light I almost certainly would have died repeatedly.
Even if building for knockdown resistance, I don't think there would be enough available by skill 40-50 to make this area significantly less annoying.

There's not a real counter this either. I have a dc of 16 to knock down Kitara and she still spends most of these fights on her back. Unfortunately even at +0-+2 the RNG rules in the tree's favor. If there was a delay of 2-3 rounds between uses so at least PCs could get up to run away or drink potions it may help. I will point out however that the spawns are manageable in their current state, just not very fun to deal with.

The trees are not supposed to melee attack at all, but when they do their melee AB is +16.
So the trees were built to spam this ability.
Khannon has 17 KD resist and gets knocked down very frequently. I think either the trees should have diminishing returns, where their DC decreases per use by 1 each use and stops at -3 or -5. or simply has a lower DC.
When I was in medium armor these trees were terrifying. Once they got me to the floor I became very concerned with the possibility of death. However, with the switch to plated armor, the fear went away too. Now I sit on my back and take a nice relaxing few moments bird watching in the sky... or counting the stars at night...

There are ways to position yourself such that you're only getting knockdowns from one at a time. With 16/17 resistance to it, the fights are not too bad then. Sure they still get long streaks of knockdowns at times, there are long streaks of bad armor rolls too meaning that even in heavy you can be killed fast if you're unlucky or looking away. I find the loot here nodes more of a niggle, rarely seeing more than one or two spawning.
