They seem disproportionally good against Light Armor characters. Their Knockdown attack appears to ignore Dodge, and while the damage is probably low enough that Heavy Armor character can soak it a lot of the time, Light Armor characters get chain CC'd and actually take significant damage. The usual tactic of "Make sure they are aggroing someone else" doesn't work either since it's an AoE attack and they spam it pretty much constantly.
Possible avenues to fix : -Make the ability single-target, or cone-shaped or such -Give the ability an attack roll -Reduce the frequency at which they use the attack and give it some form warning so you can evade it.

Going to tweak this a bit as it's quite an old script. It will require a hit to make a KD attempt and also the passive abilities in the light armor and shield line that affect explosions will work against the damage component (which in turn means an easier DC).

As a general rule, it might be a balance point to have every NPC have a 30-60 second cooldown on special abilities.

Feels better now. A few things of note...
I feel like the trees should be using their abilities a little less and auto-attacking a little more. Honestly their auto-attacks are more dangerous, but it would make fights take less of an eternity.
Loot? I killed about 10 trees without seeing a single loot node. (Not just detecting, just seeing a placable that looks like a loot node)
The area's xp cap seems very, very low. I didn't check at first, but by about 6 trees in I was getting something like 0.1 stealth xp per sneak attack (Flanking II, Sneak Attack II, Stealth 40) and less then 1 2WF xp for dealing 10 damage with my weapon (All my items are on level or over my level).

Going to bump on the xp, it's still a problem in that there's not really a point killing more then a half-dozen trees and turning back, especially because...
There seems to be absolutely no loot for the vast majority of the dungeon. I've cleared the entire southern half of the map (maybe 20 trees?) without a single loot node, and it's not that I can't detect them, I used the client extension map to check and there -where- no nodes to find.

The area definitely has loot spawns, I'll need to take a look in game to see if there's a problem with the script that spawns them.

It does but they come up very rarely in solo play.

There's no difference in node spawns between solo and group. For the whole area the expected number is around 3-4, and one is guaranteed.

That seems... very little? Most areas seem to have around 1 node per 1-2 encounters. If trees have 3-4, that would be like... 1 node per 10 encounters, if not less.

It is, but that's because the area really isn't meant to be a dungeon. Something to check out if you're working on the tree entry, want a low risk of dying, on your way through, etc. Maybe I'll put in a quest at some point, or a tougher encounter at the top that justifies some "end of the dungeon" loot.

It feels kind of a problem because it's one of the only dungeons in it's level range as far as I know. You're got Waterfall Mines (Which is also a slightly less-then usual on the loot side, but not as bad), Wyler (Which is suicide without a good group) and Trolls (Which requires some pretty specilized gear, and even then from what I hear only the regular trolls are really possible).

I'll keep an eye on the feedback threads for those areas, then. Right now I can't afford the development time I'd need to make trees in to an actual dungeon, the area itself isn't really suitable for it and I don't have scripts for any other interesting encounters there.
