Hello there DM team, I had just been thinking about the proficiency system and levels, and it just dawned on me that I'm not actually sure how this correlates to RP. I know at first this may sound like "how powerful am I in regards to my proficiency's?", and essentially it is, but it is an important factor of RP to know how skilled a craftsman/trader/fighter is etc etc... when actually RPing ones skills to other players or even NPCs in events. So what I'd like to know is... - Is there a rough guideline to how skilled a character is in regards to their proficiency's? - If not, do we just RP that our character is X good at something when the player feels their character is at that threshold? - And if so to the above, what if a players perception of their character conflicts with that of a DM in an event? This could be quite problematic in knowing what exactly a character is potentially capable of - Or is this something the DM team will be working on in the future? Thanks for the input

I think it's reasonably relative, at least right now.
One aspect I might like to point out is that currently, rank 20 or above basically means you've been working on a skill since the server opened, and are thus one of the very few elite on the server in that particular skill (from what I have observed).
Everyone starts at 0, but has the capacity to use every skill and meaningfully practice it, which suggests that 0 is sorta 'no particular disadvantage' type level. You can do anything an ordinary person could do, and a bit more: most people can't forge full-plate without an apprenticeship, but clearly we don't have that issue.
The skill system goes to 100, but that will be a long time before we see that. The cream of the crop now is only a fifth of the skill of true masters, but compared to a rank 1 is basically the server's lifetime worth of effort.
Cheers, Kit
