There are some cool encounters, which I'd love to see expanded, traveling aboard a ship. It'd be great to see a minor reward if you're able to win the fight that pops up from time to time, within the time window required.

My own thoughts on the topic would include some subset of:
- a refund (full or partial) for the trip ("You did a good job, we could really use someone of your skill in future")
- a BXP or monetary reward with limit per time ("Thanks for taking care of that, that thing has been bothering us for weeks and now we can make better profits")
- a resource drop ("We hauled that thing on-deck for the wyvern hide, sea scales, shark-fin, photo-op, w/e")
- minor chance at loot ("We found this in its stomach. Looks it ate someone/thing and the stuff survived")
Each is a suggestion of what a reward might be, rather than suggesting that all aught to be included.
Or some randomized mixture; different captains, different ships, different rewards.

I'll just do some money for now. If you manage to kill (not hide and wait) an encounter it'll refund half the cost. If you do it there and back you travel for free.

Sounds good. Also, it would be cool to have say, a multi step ship defense for merc work - basically, a ship exterior, a ship interior below decks, a cargo hold defense, say. Could be an interesting bit of spectacle quest. Maybe for bXP?
