The encounter in the ruins past the shamblers is significantly more dangerous and powerful than higher level equivalents in other areas that have higher level ranges.

Bosses don't have levels but I'd still be interested to hear your thoughts on why this one in particular is tougher than the others. Maybe just try PMing if you want to avoid spoilers, being vague takes away most of what I'm interested in hearing about.

It sort of pairs with the encounter having a much longer range than PCs, and that the elemental damages are so much up-front when all of the available measures for that particular element rely on the damage being spread trickle style. Each volley was doing half of my HP, even with me equipped to wash away all follow-up damage. Unlike other encounters of this type, there is also significant break between the ranged attack segments and the melee segments.
