From what I can see, and it might fall short of the truth, the Calidor Dominion Bank is only useful for one thing: deposit money->time->gain interest.
What I think is it could be so much more. It could be a way to show your status, for starters. If you wish to buy a plot of land, first you must gain a Certificate from the Dominion Bank that your account has at least a certain amount of currency at your disposal.
What else could there be? Well item storage for one. You found a very nice piece of Heavy Armor that you just want to sell to someone, and you do not wish to walk around Encumbered for the rest of whenever somebody finally buys it off of you. You could simple hold a Bank Note, where you give it to some other player, and they can exchange it at the bank and be done with it. Of course, it wouldn't be useful only for buying and selling, but also for storing items you wish to keep for later, but are taking up the space. Every item you have stored in this manner has a Fee of Storage of an amount of bucks and dimes; based on weight and size perhaps?
Your bank note could also be used to carry around with you a few Checks at your disposal, which would not only help because, let's face it - normally you wouldn't be walking around with your bag stuffed to the breaking point with cash -, but also because as far as I know, by dying you also lose some money you had on you, and that way you'd just know that your cash is safe and sound behind a Banks almost impenetrable Safe.
One last thing I would like to mention is: Loans. Yes, Loans. You could take Loans from the bank, with restirctions of course, and then have to pay the loaned amount plus interest in a set date, almost like when renting a room at an Inn.
How would restrictions apply? Well, for starters, you'd have to have a Name for yourself, something that they can trust. This could be that you are part of a Faction, your Crafting skill level, Mercantilism skill... The idea is that while starting out, you can only get a Loan of say a hundred bucks, just about enough to get yourself properly set up to be able to pay a loan. Not sure how Factions work, but if there are Ranks, those could be restrictive too, otherwise skills like Mercantilism and Crafting, or some other, perhaps even a combat skill would determine the amount you can get from the Bank at any given time.
You have Blacksmithing (10)? We see you are an up and coming hard worker, and we would like to start out on good relations, in case you make it big. So how about we give you <insert fair amount here>. This should help Kickstart your carrier better, since more craftsmen mean more money, and more money means more business for us.
And what if you don't pay? Well, perhaps have a Wanted Note where players can Bounty Hunt for the player who refuses to pay up. What else? Perhaps while that Wanted Note is up and about, your relationship with the city's vendors sours as well, with raised prices and lower buy rates, or perhaps even to the point where they refuse to talk to you, depending on the size of the debt owned.

I realize there's many faults with the system, but I'm not trying to create a perfect working one here. I'm just trying to see if anyone else feels like this would be a great implementation, and if it is, perhaps we could work out ways to make it better?
