It has been the observation of the player-base for some time (Since at least June) that the most economical means of improving Alchemy is through the mass purchase and deconstruction of potions form NPC merchants. This allows for improvement of the craft skill up to a maximum of the rank of the potions supplied by the vendor, which can be relatively easily optimized by locating the highest level hub-area (Currently Sedis). This is many times more efficient with Alchemy than any other craft skill (due to the innate relative multiplier), but could in theory be performed with any Craft skill. Other craft skills, however, benefit from much greater loot-drops in dungeons to deconstruct, whereas Alchemy has a relatively sparse value-per-dungeon which makes vendor-decon a greatly more attractive proposition.
