I'm not overly fond of the idea that every character requires armor to be effective. Some, like Shaolin Monks (and whatever their equivalent might be in this setting due to the "Asian" culture/influences), don't need armor to be effective, and others might simply be some giant bar-room brawler that's tough as nails and worthy of visiting the Salty Spitoon.
Ergo, I propose an Unarmored skill tree!
A few ideas I had:
Unarmored (Base Description) - This skill is progressed by managing damage received when unarmored. A high skill level gives you +1 Armor at levels 10, 30, 50, 70, and 90, and +1 Dodge at levels 20, 40, 60, 80, 100.
Unarmored Fighter (0) - You gain +2 Dodge while not wearing armor.
Unarmored Fighter II (20) - You gain +2 Dodge and +2 Armor while not wearing armor.
Thick Skin III (40) - You gain +2 Dodge and +4 Armor while not wearing armor.
Thick Skin IV (60) - You gain +2 Dodge and +6 Armor while not wearing armor.
Thick Skin V (80) - You gain +2 Dodge and +8 Armor while not wearing armor.
Nimble Combatant III (40) - You gain +4 Dodge and +2 Armor while not wearing armor.
Nimble Combatant IV (60) - You gain +6 Dodge and +2 Armor while not wearing armor.
Nimble Combatant V (80) - You gain +8 Dodge and +2 Armor while not wearing armor.
[Via the above, maximum possible Dodge is 23, maximum possible Armor is 13. I haven't seen the high-end light armors yet, but I feel like this would be roughly equivalent in statistics.]
Recuperate (15) - Activated: You can recover 2-12 hitpoints accumulated from injuries. Cooldown: 150 seconds.
Recuperate II (30) - Activated: You can recover 4-14 hitpoints accumulated from injuries. Cooldown: 140 seconds.
Recuperate III (45) - Activated: You can recover 6-16 hitpoints accumulated from injuries. Cooldown: 130 seconds.
Recuperate IV (60) - Activated: You can recover 8-18 hitpoints accumulated from injuries. Cooldown: 120 seconds.
Recuperate V (75) - Activated: You can recover 10-20 hitpoints accumulated from injuries. Cooldown: 110 seconds.
Unburdened (10) - You move 5% faster and gain a +1 bonus on Tumble rolls.
Unburdened II (20) - You move 10% faster and gain a +1 bonus on Tumble rolls.
Unburdened III (30) - You move 15% faster and gain a +2 bonus on Tumble rolls.
Unburdened IV (40) - You move 20% faster and gain a +2 bonus on Tumble rolls.
Unburdened V (50) - You move 25% faster and gain a +3 bonus on Tumble rolls.
Deep Breathing (0) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 1.
Deep Breathing II (15) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 2.
Meditation III (30) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 2 and you regenerate 1 hitpoint per minute.
Meditation IV (45) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 3, and you regenerate 1 hitpoint per minute.
Meditation V (60) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 3, and you regenerate 2 hitpoints per minute.
Passive Breathing III (30) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 3 and you gain a +2 bonus against Gas effects.
Passive Breathing IV (45) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration is increased by 4 and you gain a +4 bonus against Gas effects.
Passive Breathing V (60) - While unarmored, your stamina regeneration increases by 5 and you gain a +6 bonus against Gas effects.
Brawler (10) - Activated: For two rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 2 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 60 seconds. Stamina: 15.
Brawler II (20) - Activated: For two rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 3 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 50 seconds. Stamina: 20.
Enduring III (30) - Activated: For three rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 3 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 45 seconds. Stamina: 25.
Enduring IV (40) - Activated: For four rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 3 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 40 seconds. Stamina: 30.
Enduring V (50) - Activated: For five rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 3 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 30 seconds. Stamina: 30.
Toughness III (30) - Activated: For two rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 5 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 45 seconds. Stamina: 25.
Toughness IV (40) - Activated: For two rounds, you benefit from a minimum roll of 7 on your Armor roll. Cooldown: 40 seconds. Stamina: 30.
