Filled all 3 possible slots of FT = 3mods: Variable Nozzle, Compressor, Injector
Nozzle overrides the other 2. Ground target= wide FT, target creature = smaller cone
Further, in the case of the Variable short fan, it's basically impossible to target the close ground with a larger-base target in front and the longer range will just be short if you don't get close enough. A good use for this would have been the Brood mother+ baby spiders...if not for this problem.
-This is also an issue with the cone of the other 2 (acid, cold) - it's hard to predict the cone direction with the ground circle and if you catch part of the creature outline by accident you have an unintentional direct fire activation.
________________ I propose that the Hybrids change to a drop-down menu, much like grenade variants have now. In the case of above, you'd have selections for 1.Short, wide fan, 2. Long cone, 3. Beam, 4. Circle AoE blast.

The overlap isn't unintentional, if you're planning on using the compressor and injector then you need to pick a different mod for the nozzle slot. That said, the UI work you're suggesting is pretty complicated (maybe not possible in any reasonable way) but it's also a nice idea and something to keep on the wish list.

I understand.
I doubt any of the first slots (Variable, Fan) will be compatible with the Injector AOE - the ground target option. I can't predict if Fan will have an override effect on single target (beam). So the text of mods might need a conflict warning.
Another option is to allow the first slot to be enabled/disabled by some button. This would allow the first slot to override as desired when enabled.
