Welcome to the Beyonder, an 18+ PVP role playing server set in the Beyonder, a remote land isolated from the rest of Trivium by the barren waste to the West and by the sea of deadly storms to the East. The Beyonder is occupied by two warring races, the Raptorans and the Lizardfolk. Pick your side and join the centuries-old struggle for survival in these treacherous lands.
Races
Lizardfolk
Lizardfolk are a race of large, humanoid reptilians that have inhabited the swamps of the Beyonder for millenia. They have been locked in a centuries-long struggle for survival with the Raptorans, who descend from the mountains to raid Lizardfolk settlements. Lizardfolk society is centered around the Clanhouse, either a large structure or outdoor area where elders gather to drink, pass judgment on their younger kin, and discuss pressing local issues. Many settlements also have large dens, where the elder women care for eggs and newborn lizardfolk until they are old enough to travel alone. Lizardfolk relationships are monogamous despite the communal raising of children, and it is typical to choose one mate for life as part of a coming of age ceremony.
Lizardfolk names often sound harsh and gutteral when spoken in other tongues, but to a certain ear the slow, almost slurred drawl of Lizardfolk speech can sound quite beautiful. Lizardfolk have both a first and last name, and there is no discernable difference between the two, other than that the latter is inherited from the mother and the former is chosen by the father when the child comes of age.
Raptoran
Raptorans are a race of humanoids whose defining characteristic is a feathery set of wings, colored either white, red, or black. Raptorans have unusual, often bird-like features and the nails on their fingers and toes are thick and claw-like. Raptorans typically have hair of a similar color to their wings, and since their hair does not gray with age is can be difficult to tell how old a Raptoran is by appearnce. The Raptoran race has been locked in a centuries-long struggle for survival with the Lizardfolk, who venture from their swamps to plunder nests and steal Raptoran eggs. Raptoran society varies by region but is always centered around the nest, a communal settlement where mating pairs of Raptorans can build nests or other small structures to keep their eggs safe. In recent years Raptorans have favored cliffs and mountains, where their natural flight allows them to hide from Lizardfolk eyes and to ambush their enemies when they venture too far in to the cliffs.
Raptoran names are often soft-spoken and typically contain many vowels. Their last names are not given by family, rather they are chosen to represent something in nature that the Raptoran's parents might think is relevant to their birth.
PvP
The Beyonder is a dangerous place, and while the Raptorans and Lizardfolk each guard their starting cities with great armies, the wildlands between them are treacherous and contested territory. Players should watch out for members of the opposing race, who could be liable to attack on sight. There is no permadeath from PvP in The Beyonder, but characters who fall in combat to a member of the other race must not venture to the wildlands for at least one hour, or until the vanquishing party has left the area, whichever comes sooner.
Magic and Technology
The Beyonder is a no-magic world set in a land where technology hasn't much surpassed the steel age. Forged weapons and armor can be found but there are no spells, firearms, or vehicles.
