This is the one that lets you consume an oil flask, an oil unit, and make a cone of fire infront of you. Unfortuantely there's no clarity as to how much damage is going to be done. There's also a dc 20 check associated with this action, which seems weird considering you're paying 4 feats for what amounts to igniters which seem just as effective damage wise, but don't need an attack roll the last I had them? At the very least DC 20 seems very high, I think I only have a 40% chance of hitting that?

The attack roll just causes the cone to shift its target location on a miss, and also lets you get critical hits. The base damage is higher than an igniter/blowtorch and it also increases with demolitions abilities, while item abilities don't.
It would help to include info on what demolitions abilities/ranks you're using, your igniter's level, and also what you're actually seeing ingame that doesn't agree with what you'd expect/want the ability to do.

Demo 79; I'm generally performing 15-18 fire damage on a hit against creatures without weakness + the burn. This is on par with where I was using igniters at demo 70 when the igniters themselves were level 60 as far as I remember. I THINK the burn pool i'm getting is larger with the fire spitting from Congflaguration 4. I only have the conflaguration line. Is it that the igniters may be generating a higher guaranteed level of damage at 5+ 1 per 5 levels (19 total for me with level 70 gloves) on the low end even though the fire spitting may spike higher? I was more saying, I dont know what to expect since the formula for the damage isn't part of the ability. I'd be curious as to the formula for the level 5 ability too, which I'm working on unlocking currently.

I'll try taking it up a bit, but a big part of upper tier demolitions damage comes from having the Explosive Damage line.
