While other weapons have a sneak attack profile in their description, gloves do not. I've been unable to get an unarmed sneak attack, though flank attacks do work unarmed.

They shouldn't need a sneak attack damage in the description to proc SAs, I'm going to start by looking in to why those aren't working for you. Are you using the ability or just attacking from stealth?

Not tried the sneak attack ability yet. I was attacking from stealth and using the flanking, stealth combat abilities to maintain wounding after the initial sneak.

I have just tested it again and it did trigger correctly. Maybe my stealth had not been high enough when I tried before and while the creature attacked my pet, it was also aware of my sneak. The lack of description on the gloves then enabled a swift and incorrect assumption on my part.
I guess the gloves should have the same sneak profile as the majority of wepons, being 10 + 1 per 10 item levels?

The *Sneak Attack* message comes up, but with fists the wounding damage is the same as it would be for my flank attack (4 points). I tested the same conditions with a rapier and got 18 points of wounding from a sneak attack (13 from the rapier sneak and 5 from flanking) I had not noticed the sneak and flanking being combined before, I assume that is correct? So, the sneak may proc, but may not apply the sneak damage fully.

It would help if you could list out what abilities from the Stealth skill you have, as some abilities modify sneak attack damage (IE, Stealth Combat I).

Gloves don't have SA damage bonus at present. Since EoA SA damage comes from equipment scaling and feats, 0 is the expected damage for the SA (without the Stealth Combat feat line).
Gloves probably should have some SA scaling added, or the unarmed feat line should have its own flat SA boost feat.
EDIT:
Apparently there is a default amount for SA? If so, you should see a least 1+ point of SA damage ...if you are indeed getting a SA on a mob, as opposed to just a flank attack from positioning. I
The easiest way to test is to get some smoke grenades and find a mob that is not too dangerous and has some HP to last. Then throw a smoke grenade so you are in the cloud, activate stealth (stealth acts Like HIPS when in the smoke cloud), immediately attack. Repeat as cooldown allows.
Keep in mind that if the attack misses, there is no SA. And like Hips, you may have to take a step back to break the melee-range combat lock to achieve the stealth hide between hide attempts.
SA from the front would remove the flank numbers and make it more clear to see the SA.
Or you could get a tank to distract. But that way you likely need to ignore the flank attack numbers and the tank might kill the mob before you can experiment.

I was testing with Flanking Attack I and Stealth Combat I, giving 5 flank damge with a rapier and 4 with unarmed.
