I tried to deconstruct a rank 6 Morningstar that I found in the Labytinth with the following mods : Carbon Steel, Striker, Magnetic Attractor.
I received the following message in my chat log : "Item deconstruction failed because a property could not be matched."
I didn't get any materials from the deconstruction. I don't know if I got any xp.

Still destroyed the item?

I also have a Morningstar in carbon steel that gives the same "failed because a property could not be matched" error message when I try to bring it up in the crafting tab for improvement. The only relevant thing I can say about it is that there's a typo in the description, where "carbon steel" reads "carbon steep" or something...

Two fixes for next update:
1. No more deleting items without successful deconstruct. 2. No more bad morningstar spawns.
Current morningstars from loot tables only will unfortunately stay broken, no way to get those fixed with an update since they have a bad property.

I guess it's not a big deal, since no one complained about this before it probably means no one has broken morningstars they care about

It's only related to ones that dropped with carbon steel on them already, and they couldn't have been improved or had properties added.
