What should we expect from the open beta?
Will there be a server wipe once it goes alpha?
Will there be stories and campaigns being run by staff?
Will there be character support and direction?
Will there be margaritas?

For the open beta I want to open it up once we've got all the requisite "PW stuff" done. Also it won't be fully open, there'll be a password you need to register for the forums to get. The checklist looks something like this:
- The big Calidor areas: Done the docks and trade quarter, need the wards. Downtown can come later. - PW amenities: Done xpcraft, banking, the arena, and the housing system. Need to finish RP areas like the inn and church. - Shops: Need shops up to level 30 or so. Done about 75% of them but still need to add YMD's writing work and a few more item shops. - Dungeons: Done four dungeons that cover the required level ranges. Need two more plus a boss for some variety. - System: Need to finish up the crafting system. Lots of coding here but launching at around 20% for item properties is fine since there are plans for hundreds. Abilities need a balance pass.
Overall most of the work holding off beta is area design, still looking for assistance there if you know anyone.
There will be a server wipe before beta ends. I refuse to call a server "beta" if we've made the call to never do a wipe. I'll figure something out to give "bonus pool" xp for people who do the beta.
The beta will be DMed. We've talked to quite a few people interested in DMing but I imagine the number will shrink a bit when it comes time to do a roll call. DMs have free reign (and are encouraged) to run multi-event storylines, and one of the goals for DMing is to somehow leave a record of every major event, whether it's an NPC who tells the story, bits of lore in an area, or whatever. We'll try to keep in line with Legacy in terms of the character development we allow for, but the key difference is that we're no longer looking to reward action with ownership of land, titles, followers, etc. You might strive for things like being owed favors, getting key information about anything from history, politics, the occult, etc, or even moving some pieces and altering how things go in the political scene. It will be a tough balance to hit but everyone I've talked to about DMing here knows their stuff.
There will be margaritas. I heard that there are as many calories in a margarita as there are in a lemon meringue pie so you'd better sign up for a few spin classes to prepare.

Depending on when it is, I should have time to help out and DM.

I'll be running at least two introductory story campaigns during beta, both of them serving to get players more familiar with the city and the setting. Also, to add to some of PE's post: most of the convos for in-game are done, as is most of the fluff lore for for in-game (although that's not strictly necessary for the beta). Just need to do write-ups for the major lore points and update race histories and descriptions. Margaritas are mandatory. You might even level up a skill if you imbibe enough of them Late edit: As for character support & direction: yes, but not during the beta, and it likely won't be the way you'd expect DM support for stuff you do like on other servers. More on this later once we hash it out and get the beta going.
