Recently I've been eyeing up those empty slots in our inventory screen that have been unused or devoted solely to cosmetics, and been brainstorming a bit with what could be done with them.
I've no idea how to incorporate rings and pendants into a world with no magic as of yet, other than as decorational purposes (which, being invisible, is kind of a moot point.)
Cloaks have already been addressed quite well in another thread.
So, I would like to throw out my idea for belts!
There's been much rumbling of the weight that ammunition and consumables can put on a character, and I can both sympathize and agree with the opposite point at the same time. I appreciate the realism of keeping a character from lugging around 1000+ bullets at a time, but also understand the frustration of having to restock at the merchant after every encounter..... and the difficulties of carrying a single full stack of each consumable one wants to use while in heavier, weightier gear.
Introducing..... belt containers! Different qualities of equip able belts that serve as weight reduced containers, to simulate "pockets" and "pouches."
Just a rough outline, to present the base idea.
Tier 1 quality belt = 1 slot container, 15% weight reduction. Could throw in, say, one stack of bolts or bullets.
Tier 2 quality belt = 2 slot container, 30% weight reduction. Can now carry one stack of bolts, and one stack of incendiary grenades.
Tier 3 "master" quality belt = 3 slot container, 50% weight reduction. Can now carry one stack of bolts, one stack of incendiary grenades, and one stack of smoke grenades.
It would alleviate the weight of consumables, provide a use for the belt slot, a few extra options for crafters, and does not pull away too heavily from realism.
Disclaimer - I know not how much coding something like this would take, or even if its possible. Nor do I know if it would be possible to prevent someone from lugging around 3 suits of full plate on their "belt", aside from the honesty factor. :/
