So, I did some counting on some things last night, things I should have figured up a long time ago actually.
When I put my entire set of Heavy Armor on (Plate chest, boots, gauntlets and helm), it is a -70 stamina penalty.
When I put on a shield on top of that, it's an extra -15, for -85 stamina penalty. This means I have 15 stamina to throw around in theory, which is not enough for any T2 abilities (which are all roughly 20 stamina.)
On top of this, there is an extremely heft -AB for ranged weapons. You literally cannot hit a barn if your standing right beside it.
In the current state of the Beta, a heavy armored character and a light armored character could stand side by side, and the light armored character would win. The person in heavy armor (rightfully) gets hit a lot more because of the light armors high dodge AC, BUT the DR of the heavy armor does not mitigate enough damage for the heavy armor wielder to stay standing an equal duration to the light.
I think, in some form, heavy armor eventually needs to be looked at. As all the armor classes, to be balanced, need to be equally as durable but go about it in different ways. Either heavy armor at low levels needs more innate base DR, or some of the stamina penalty / ranged penalties need to go to allow us a bit more versatility in what abilities / weapons / tactics we can use to compensate.

Upgrade your stamina.
No, seriously. Do it.
Heavy armor, not unlike real life, gets a lot better the more you learn how to use it. Initially it's clunky and you can't do much with it, but with proper training (upgrading your stamina) you get a lot better. The DR also starts to scale A LOT, such that at the higher end a heavy armor character will be able to soak up A LOT of damage.

I'm at 130/130 HP and Carry Weight atm. Haven't pumped stamina at all. It'd actually kind of be awesome if you could respect these things along with abilities in the beta lol.
I'm torn on if HP or Carry actually matters less. Carry only seems to matter if you want to be able to run, and most people seem to consider running taboo at this point.
But thanks, I'll keep Stamina in mind from now on.

There's also a train of feats for heavy armor that reduces the penalty. If you think of it, -20% of that penalty is going to be way more useful than +2 DR.

Yea Axel wears medium armor and I bumped up his stamina twice, health 3 times and the rest all carry so he can hold 140 pounds before going into walk mode
