Self explanatory.

I like it for power factions, I'd see it as being unnecessary for the others. You use up too many colors, random clothing becomes impossible.

Colors are fine, but I do want more money from vendors too : P

I actually prefer uniforms. The fact that, for example, every Chesterfield agent wears green... prevents other people from using the color - and if they do, people believe them to be Chesters anyway, and others get belligerent saying they shouldn't be wearing "my team's colors" in the first place."

Cops without a uniform? I've heard people asking others "Are you a Copper/Chesterfield?" Because of the color. They NEED to have a uniform. Like modern cops. How to distinguish one from someoen that pretends to be one?

I think all the bad guys should have to wear uniforms. I shouldn't have to ask if you're a criminal.

A good use for the craft-jewelry suggestion. the badges can be necklaces.. which iwht a good enough craft skill you can replicate for the badguys.

What if some factions had a specific style of dress (uniform like) and we made the colors very specific (as in, told you the numbers to plug into the designer) so that everyone was more uniform such that all the other shades would be available?

They should all be purple.

Uniforms have their pros... but.... I know if I join a faction I'm going to want full creative control over my outfit as I'm SUPER picky about it.

Maybe instead of uniforms, factions can have 1 visible piece of clothing that signifies them? I know for most this may be difficult, but the Templars apparently have some red cloak that they all wear. I don't see why the CCP (being a government institute) shouldn't have some sort of blue hat or some such? Or if players had access to an examine editor in game, we could all just quickly write down we're wearing a badge or sash or what have you signifying we're part of said group. Then we could wear any colours we like.

It's alright. If people have a thing about faction identification sans colours, they could always just have badges, like real detectives and undercover cops and deputy sherriffs from the Wild Wild West. A little badge was the only way to tell a deputy from an outlaw, in spaghetti westerns.

I would like to see a badge system like with Sigil's faction system.
You have the option of showing your badge to players out in the open, or discretely to 1 person. That would solve uniform issues. Badge is just the term for it, whatever your faction identifies them self with can have it's own sort of "badge"
Whilst I like the colour scheming as it's easy to tell who's who... some people just customize their stuff with the colour they like. It'd be nice to have a distinct uniform, perhaps incorporating said colour somewhat, though relying totally on colour scheming seems a bit.... limiting for player customization. I can't have a blue cloak because people might think I'm a Copper, atm.

I voted that its good, because overall I do like the idea of factions having representative colors. It allows us more leeway in how our characters look. Recalling past characters on other servers, it sucks to have a uniform or standard cloak that is ugly and/or doesn't match anything at all. (I'm looking at you, DB, and your old-school fugly yellow Zhent cloaks. Ugh.)
However, the lack of a proper character description editor is still a glaring weakness in being able to portray your character. I would much prefer it if I could examine a character's description and see them affirmatively describe that they are wearing a "Chester Green", or a "CCP Blue", or a "Priory Purple", or when it makes sense, some kind of badge or holy symbol. That would alleviate the problem of people wanting their character to wear a certain color, but not wanting to be mistaken for being in that faction. Besides, stating that they use colors like blue, green, purple, yellow, red, etc is rather vague and says nothing about hue or shade. For example - is the CCP's blue a dark blue? Light blue? Sky blue? Ocean blue? That's a huge range to claim for a faction. Most of the server is also very dark and I'd rather not have to squint at your character model to try and decipher what color your character is wearing. I pay much more attention to text... Though I don't have a lot of experience with Sigil's badge system (having played only briefly and never having a reason to claim or show a badge) the idea is very good. Something like that, combined with a proper description mechanism, is a good supplement to the current scheme. I think I really just want to have Roderic flash a badge and a sleazy smile.
