Should a Two Hander blocking with Wrist Brace gain the 'exact' same Block as someone with a Shield?
I would think a Shield Blocker of Equal skill should be a few points better. Should be 'harder', i would think for a Sword user to match a Shield user...

Well it depends on the level of your shield I do believe that you will probably outscale a halberd blocker with a better shield

Shields should gain block quicker as they hit higher levels, I would have thought. Just at the current low levels we are at, the +2 from wrist brace is putting some of the 2H weapons on par with shields.
Just what I figure at the moment.

From what I can tell, the +2 isn't letting anyone match a shield and sword user, but it is getting you close. Using a level 26 claymore (27 2HW skill) with a cross-guard and my wrist-guards I'm reaching +8 block with 24 block skill. A halberd I think would make that a +10.
What are the block numbers for someone in similar gear/levels with a sword and shield?

base shield is 6. takes lvl20 to get a +2 on it. lvl20 shield and lvl20block, only get 8 blocking
seems odd, that other items become better blocking then an items 'whos sole purpose and conception", is to block.

It should be adding your weapon's block rating as well...?

you are forgetting that you also get to add the block of your weapon along with the shield .

No you don't, one handed and shield only gives block bonus for the shield. However, the +1 block bonus from custom blade guard does add to your total.
I'm sitting at +9 block with a 20 Heavy shield and 20 Longsword with blade guard. My block is 23 and one handed 23

That literally makes no sense at all.

I have a really high block skill and some great gear. My Bruce only has nine block. =( maybe its supposed to add your primary weapon to the block roll but just doesn't? All my block comes from my shield and crossguard

I believe this is a bug then as I am almost certain that the block of the weapon and shield are supposed to be added together

Fuzz, I'd imagine it has something to do with the reach or having the reinforce haft to block? Though maybe that's a question for PE?
Seems to me like the easy solution would be for sword and shield to add the weapon's base block, + the shield bonus to block? Or if that's unbalanced perhaps 1/2 the weapon's block?

That literally makes no sense at all. I can only assume that is because halberds have reach, and trying to get close to a man and hitting him with anything when they are fighting defensively with a polearm would be a bitch to do. Then again, a Claymore fights like a quarterstaff, not a regular longsword/greatsword so they ought to have similar block values. It would make more sense to me that one handed block values are added to defence rolls, after all, it's not like your sword suddenly becomes worthless at blocking with now you have a shield. Then again, one might argue that rapier + heavy shield users will see themselves rolling in block bonuses

On noes, rapier + bladeguard at level 20 would give a +5 to block.
We'd see rapier heavy shield fighters with very, VERY high block then. Couple that with heavy armor DR and you have a nigh unkillable fighter xD
I imagine the modifications that can be added to shields later on will improve their block rating vastly. But keep in mind. Shields ALSO give armor. Thus increasing your survivability just by equipping one.

I mean... a shield plus a weapons block ... even if it got to 15 is that really that high?
